Kamrunnahar's Rangpur Bhog
Uttara
Kamrunnahar is from Rangpur, the land of dal-bhat simplicity and the kind of cooking that believes in feeding people until they physically cannot eat another grain of rice. Her mother ran a small eatery near Rangpur town's central market, famous for its dal with panch phoron that cost two taka a plate and fed half the rickshaw-pullers in the area. Kamrunnahar brought that generous, no-nonsense cooking to Uttara. Her dal-bhat sets — a plate of rice with three different dals, a vegetable bhaji, and a fish curry — are the most affordable meal on the Meal platform. She prices them low deliberately, because she believes home food should be accessible to everyone. In winter, Kamrunnahar transforms her kitchen into a pitha factory. Her bhapa pitha, steamed in banana leaves with freshly squeezed date-palm gur, and her chitoi pitha with thick khejurer gur are the tastes of a Rangpur winter that her customers cannot find anywhere else in Dhaka.
Signature dish: Dal-Bhat Set (3 dals, bhaji & fish curry)
